FOOTBALL.

LEEDS UNITED DEFEATED.

BRADFORD WIN WEST RIDING SENIOR CUP.

With a last minute goal Bradford beat Leeds United (the holders) in the final for the West Riding Senior Cup at Park Avenue on Saturday, and thus created a new record in connection with the competition. they have now won the trohy on more occasions than any other club, this last victory being their fourth. The game which was watched by 11,000 spectators, was fairly evenly contested, though the United were always the more polished side, and the work of Edwards fully merited the applause it earned. For Bradford, Turnbull, the left back, was the outstanding figure, and but for him the visitors would probably have won. McLean opened the scoring five minutes from the start, hooking the ball into the net from a corner. This was all the scoring until five minutes from the interval, when Jennings and Wainscoat netted for the United. United had rather the better of the argument in the second half, but could not score, while Bradford equalised immediately after the resumption, when Rawlings headed a goal from a corner which resulted from a miskick on the part of Townsley. The end came with dramatic suddenness. The referee was about to blow the whistle which would have meant extra time being played, when McLean netted from a centre by Rawlings, thus giving his side the victory by the odd goal in five. The Cup and medals were presented to the players by the Deputy Lord Mayor (Ald. David Walker).
